If you would like to go for a day trip that you will never forget, try this one. My neighbor and I visited the upper Lewis River area on June 23, 2008. I wanted to see the falls when the water level was high. From Woodland, Washington (I-5 exit 21), drive east on 503...read more.

On Monday, May 19, 2008, we left Woodland for a day trip to The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum near McMinnville, OR. This was one of the most enjoyable trips we have ever experienced. In addition to seeing the Spruce Goose and untold numbers of other aircraft, we watched the movie Sea Monsters in The Evergreen Imax Theatre. I was also fortunate enough to meet and have my picture taken with Delford Smith, founder of the Museum.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2006, a beautiful sunny autumn morning, we left Woodland for a day trip to the Long Beach Peninsula. We decided to travel on the Washington side of the Columbia River and come back on the Oregon side. The highway on the way there was very scenic with nice views and a feeling of wilderness. Take your time and enjoy the twists and turns. It was 98 miles there and 220 miles round trip.

On February 19, 2006, my wife Nancy and I decided to drive from Woodland up to Multnomah Falls to see what they looked like covered in ice. We were so glad we did. While we were there we took a picture of a church group from Colfax, WA. I sent one of the pictures to Wendy McGraw of La Center North Clark Chamber of Commerce. She replied that it brought back memories of when her dad used to bring their family up there when she was a little child. Cool!

A Day Trip to Bonneville Dam from Woodland, in September, when the salmon are in, is an awesome experience. You can watch the salmon using the fish ladders to travel above the Dam, then go to the salmon spawning area and watch that operation.
