Application Forms for 2009 and 2010 Forest Project Funding -- Title II

Title II project application forms are now available at the Forest's web site at www.fs.fed.us/gpnf. Completed applications must be received by February 9, 2009.

The public is encouraged to propose projects designed to improve Gifford Pinchot National Forest lands and the rural economies of local counties. The projects will be considered for 2009 and 2010 project year funding. Project funding was made available through Title II funds under the reauthorized Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act (Public Law 110-343). Title II projects fund work such as restoring watersheds, decommissioning roads, removing noxious and invasive weeds, conservation education, thinning trees, enhancing recreation and maintaining roads and trails. The funds are made available by Skamania, Lewis, Cowlitz, and Klickitat counties which receive federal funds based on the percentage of land in federal ownership, timber receipt payments, and per capita income. After submission, projects are considered and recommended by a Forest Resource Advisory Committee, and approved by the Gifford Pinchot Forest Supervisor before implementation.

Non-profit organizations, individuals, and local governments are eligible to submit project applications. Please pass this information on to others that may be interested in submitting a project for funding.

Additional information on the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act can be found at www.fs.fed.us/srs.

If you have questions about a potential project or the project application please contact Sue Ripp at sripp@fs.fed.us or 360-891-5153.
