Washington Secretary of State, Sam Reed toured our area March 15, 2007. Sam is a great supporter of libraries. He is also promoting a bill in the legislature to create a Washington State Heritage Center. Sam was well received at the: Woodland Community Library, La Center Library and he visited with members of the Woodland Historical Museum Society. Click here for more pictures.

"What did Lewis & Clark know about the Columbia river and when did they know it?" was the title of David Nicandri's lecture presented on May 10, 2005 at the La Center Community Center. The program was sponsored by the Friends of La Center Library. David Nicandri has been the director of the Washington State Historical Society since 1997. He formerly served as chief curator of the Washington State Capital Museum.

Bill Walton, former Portland Trailblazer star player, was present Saturday -February 7, 2004, 4 - 6 pm. at the La Center Community Library. 1411 NE Lockwood Road, La Center, WA. Walton signed autographs, spoke about his career and graciously allowed himself to be photographed with everyone. Thank you Bill. There was a silent auction and book sale.
