The Merwin project was placed in service in 1931. Merwin is a 313-foot high concrete arch type dam. It creates Merwin Lake, a 4,040-acre impoundment popular with a wide variety of recreationists.

Merwin Park at Lake Merwin is a day use area consisting of 135 picnic tables, parking for 250 vehicles, and a beach swim area. Open year around.

Fishing, a casting contest, environmental education, face painting, prizes and refreshments were enjoyed on June 12, 2004 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Merwin Park 12 miles east of Woodland. The event was a joint effort of the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Pacific Power, and Camas Moose Lodge. Click here for pictures and more information.
