The Ridgefield 4th of July scholarship program rewards young women from RHS who are outstanding community volunteers. This years community project is called 'Princess For a Day'. The court will be hosting foster children from Clark County for an afternoon of fun activities. In addition they will be in charge of the home made strawberry shortcake booth at the Ridgefield 4th of July Celebration on the 4th at Abrams Park from 12-4. They will also be in Ridgefield 4th of July Celebration parade at 11:00 am in down town Ridgefield - bring your lawn chairs.
PRINCESS COURT ACTIVITIES
The 2005 Ridgefield Fourth of July Princess Court is actively involved in the community. In addition to making numerous appearances to promote the Ridgefield Fourth of July Parade and Celebration, they will also be participating in civic activities.
Princess for a Day is a service project designed and developed by the Princess Court. Each Princess spends the day with a foster child, giving that child the opportunity to feel like a princess with special activities and attention. By sharing their own experiences with the foster children, they hope to inspire them to achieve and learn.
The Strawberry Shortcake Booth in the post-parade activities is entirely planned and sponsored by the Princess Court. They work hard to obtain sponsors, plan purchases, and even earn a food-preparation license to prepare the cakes! It is a business activity that provides the Princesses with a learning opportunity.
