Expansion of Access to Ridgefield Police Officers

Ridgefield, WA, July 15, 2006 – The City of Ridgefield is pleased to announce the expansion of services through public electronic mail (email) access to all Ridgefield Police Department staff. Until recently, Patrol Officers within the Police Department did not have individual City email addresses. The City strives to maintain and facilitate open access to its citizens, and to provide multiple avenues for information and contact with staff and elected officials.
The City believes providing direct email access to our Patrol Officers will further serve our community by allowing citizens alternative communication methods. Electronic mail access has been added in response to the needs of the officers and the public they serve. In addition, internet access for Patrol Officers will provide resources not previously available, including access to on-line training and for research.
Interim City Manager Justin Clary said "Providing email access to our Patrol Officers is the next step in the City's effort to enhance community access to our Police Department. We encourage our citizens and businesses to contact our police officers with any questions or concerns pertaining to public safety issues that may arise."
