Union Creek Campground is a special place. It is located on Highway 62 between Medford, Oregon and Crater Lake. Union Creek runs into the Rogue River right at the Campgrounds. The Campgrounds are within walking distance of the spectacular Rogue River Gorge. Vine maple and huge fir and pine trees give one the feeling of being in a cathedral. Serenity!
Union Creek Resort is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The resort is quaint, rustic, and unique. The Country Store carries the supplies you may need for your stay as well as souvenirs etc. to take home with you. Beckie's Restaurant is a famous stop for all traveling Highway 62. The Ice Cream shop is a busy spot on a hot day.
The entire Rogue River is forced through a small gorge. This natural attraction is easily accessible and well worth the effort. You can see lava tubes on the sides of the gorge. You can also see round holes in the basalt carved by many long years of small rocks twirling about in the holes. The elevation is 3200 feet. Visitors stop here from all over the world.
A 3.5 mile trail with a spectacular view of the Rogue River. The gorge was formed by the erosive action of the river. The small cave on the west wall of the gorge is the end of a lava tube. Our pictures are taken from just below the gorge to the mouth of Union Creek.
Crater Lake is the most spectacular sight in Oregon and in fact rates right up there with any natural wonder of the world. One could easily say that viewing the lake from the rim is a spiritual experience. The tremendous power of a volcanic eruption lays right before your eyes. It is truly a world class attraction.
