Woody Debris Put Into North Fork Lewis River
This project was funded by PacifiCorp through the Aquatic Habitat Fund and in-kind contributions from the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and others. The logs were placed in groups along the shore of Eagle Island and were cabled together to create artificial log jams to form pools for cover and help keep flows going through the North Channel. As part of the alternative collaborative approach to relicensing the hydroelectric projects on the Lewis River, the parties negotiated an agreement concerning the charging of fees at PacifiCorp's Lewis River Recreation Facilities and a fee agreement at PacifiCorp's undeveloped lands associated with Merwin, Yale and Swift No. 1 projects. Pacific Energy Public Meeting
Pacific Energy hosted a public meeting at the Lewis River Golf Course. It was a chance for the public to meet those people responsible for our safety during high water events.
How Pacific Energy controls the water released from the dams was explained. Cowlitz and Clark County Emergency Management are responsible for getting the information out to the public. All questions were answered. For more pictures, click here.
