A pool would be nice, but it probably won't happen because nothing happens here! I have lived here for almost a year, and this place is pathetic! Traffic sucks, The train is too close to the residential area and get a wake up call atleast 20 times a night, no jobs here, and had to watch the fireworks that st helens displayed, where was woodland? the city is running but no one has taken the helm..it is a nice area, but nothing here to keep residents

Pool in Woodland - 9:30 a.m. 7/3/2008
With the increased cost of fuel, now would be a good time to have a pool in Woodland. I personally have been waiting for more than 30 years for this, since September 1978, when I moved here. There was a site purchased, and Mr. Dobbe decided it wouldn't work because it was in an industrial area. My question....what about the duplexes that sit to the south of the site, ON THE SAME BLOCK!. And the retirement home to the east of the site, ON THE SAME BLOCK!. With fuel costs impacting family visiting the retirees, I implore people to look into why we don't go ahead with the pool at the original site. GO LOOK FOR YOURSELF. From the frontage road on the west side of Interstate 5, turn west on Beechwood, go past Woodside Terrace and take the next right, heading north on Glenwood St. The open field on the right is the original site for the Woodland Swimming Pool.
See the facts first hand. I challenge you.

Jobs - 10:10 p.m. 6/25/2008
When are the retirees than run this city, going to start bringing jobs to woodland, because i am tired of driving long distance and spending a bazzillion bucks on gas, and besides that the property values here are through the roof, especially when the economy in the city of woodland does not meet the housing market....and why wal-mart sure we need a competitor for safeway, but as far as jobs get real they pay minium wage...what they need is winco, cheaper prices, bottom line majority of jobs here are low paying, and the housing market and gas prices are high

Snow melt. - 9:20 a.m. 5/21/2008
Despite the onset of 90-degree temperatures across the region, federal hydrologist Jon Lea said Washington state’s snowpack was 184 percent of average for the date as of Monday morning. He said snowpack was more than twice normal in the combined Cowlitz and Lewis rivers basin.

“It’s worrisome just because it’s a lot of snow on the ground,” said Lea, who works for the U.S. Natural Resources Conservation Service.

For example, 54 inches of snow-water equivalent is piled up at a 3,400-foot-elevation measuring station between Mount St. Helens and Mount Adams. Normally during this time of year, Lea said the relatively low site registers 8½ inches’ worth of melted snow.

Cool spring temperatures held the snowpack intact.

“It’s surprising that we stayed cool for so long,” said Harold Opitz, hydrologist in charge of the River Forecast Center in Portland.

Another round of hot weather or a rain-on-snow event delivered by a Pineapple Express storm system could melt a lot of snow quickly, raising the threat of localized flooding in Columbia tributaries such as the Lewis.
