Citizens are renting their plots in the Community Garden As you can see this is a family affair. If you need help with the fee go to City Hall and they may be able to help. It is my understanding donations are coming in for that purpose. If you want to donate call 360/225-8281
Several volunteers worked to install irrigation pipes at the Woodland Community Garden on May 20, 2009. Special recognition and thank you to Max Halberg of Northwest Electric. Dennis Ripp went to Max's business place (Northeast Electric 360.225.7004) to enquire about renting a ditch digger. "If it is for the Community Garden I will be happy to come over and do the work for you." Max replied. That is the Woodland Community Spirit in action. Thanks to all that help.
John Stark has headed up a committee to organize a community garden. It still has to be approved by the Woodland City Council. If you are interested in this it would help if you let the Woodland City Council members know. John is to be congratulated for his efforts.
May 15, 2009 - Ernst Terhorst is laser leveling the space for the community gardens. This is how it works. The laser is fixed at the top of the pole. It sends out a laser beam across the gardens. Mr. Terhorst drives a tractor that pulls a machine that receives the laser signal and adjust automatically up or down so that the garden ends up being perfectly level with a predetermined slope toward the road for perfect drainage. It is really amazing. A ball places on the ground would roll all the way across the garden to the road. Now all that is required before planting can begin is the water pipes have to be installed and the individual plots marked off.
March 24, 2009 - The planning commission met and agreed that the Community Garden fit under the existing language of the code for Light Industrial. They will recommend that to the City Council.
March 19, 2009 - Benno Dobbe is having the garden cultivated and leveled. Good job!

This is the acerage where the Woodland Community Garden is proposed.
