Washington State First Gentleman Mike Gregoire made a brief but pleasant visit to the Woodland Community Library on Thursday, October 4, on his way back to Olympia from the auspicious ground-breaking for the new Community Library in Battle Ground. "First Mike" met with Woodland Community Librarian Abbie Anderson as well as members of the Friends of Woodland Community Library, including President Barbara Karnis, Vice President Erin Thoeny, and new Friend Iris Swindell. Mr. Gregoire also donated two picture books to the library: "E is for Evergreen: A Washington Alphabet", by Marie and Roland Smith; and "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs", by Jon Sciezka. Mr. Gregoire frequently presents "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" at school visits, as part of a tongue-in-cheek literacy campaign advocating the release of A. Wolf from prison following the scandalous events surrounding the destruction of the residences of two brothers Pig.
"First Mike" made a delightful guest in the library, and we look forward to seeing him again at fundraising events for the Friends of Woodland Community Library.
