Ridgefield Events - July 2010The Artists in the Vineyard festival at Confluence Vineyard and Winery last week end was a great success! Thanks to all of you who attended and bought artwork from our local artisans. The festival collected money for the Oregon Food Bank and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Ridgefield Farmers Market happens every Saturday, but it was unsure at press time if they will be moving to Overlook Park this week. A group of Ridgefielders are trying to get some pick-up Ultimate Frisbee going and would like to invite any and everyone interested in having some fun and getting some cardio at the same time. We meet every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the field between the middle school and elementary school. Starting in August they will be open on the first Friday and Saturday of the month. Visit them on your way to First Friday! Their Back to School sale is scheduled for August 20. This news from Elizabeth Madrigal: Heritage Day (August 21) is still seeking artists to add to this event. If you look at what is going on - including the Farmers' Market - this is going to draw a crowd. I have promoted this event on KBOO, with Noel at Lewisriver.com, the Columbian, the Reflector, the Oregonian, Washington Zest, Bonafied Country Magazine, Vancouver Voice, The Daily Insider, and to lots of movers and shakers around town. And now I'm telling you about it! Nine school friends will be hosting a fundraiser carwash this Saturday, July 31st. It will be held at the Nazarrene Church on Pioneer Street in downtown Ridgefield, across from View Ridge Middle School, between 10am and 3pm. Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation will host a beef, chicken and pork barbecue at the Port of Ridgefield's Commissioners' picnic, Friday, August 20 from 4-7pm. Money raised will support the programs of the Foundation. The barbecue will be sponsored by Smokin' Eagle, Wishing Well Productions, Quetopia Barbecue Company and the Port of Ridgefield. Information: Tim Shell, tim.shell@kpffcivilpdx.com, 503-542-3806, cell: 503-502-8941 Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation Golf Tournament will be held at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course, August 24, to raise money to help fund several things: the Principal's Checkbook Program; a mini-grant program to help teachers, prinicipals and school-affiliated clubs and organizations; teacher appreciation awards to help them pay for continuing education expenses; scholarships for Ridgefield School district students going on to higher education, etc. There are many ways to participate.
