Award to Grange
Because there are no locksmiths in Woodland, the Woodland Police Department does a public service by opening cars for citizens that have locked their keys in their car. The Woodland Grange, JJ's Computer Repair, and Mosby Insurance presented the Police Department with money to purchase several sets of car opening tools. At the City Council meeting on April 21, 2008, they were presented with an award for their donation.

VETERAN OFFICER PROMOTED TO SERGEANT
On November 1st, 2007, Ofc. Robb Lipp begins his new duties as Sergeant.
The Woodland Police Department announces the promotion of a veteran officer.
On November 1st, 2007, Ofc. Robb Lipp begins his new duties as Sergeant.
Lipp was raised in Woodland and graduated from
Woodland High School. He entered the Air Force for 4 years
where he was a military police dog handler. After the military,
he settled in the Ellensburg, Wa., area where he was first a
reserve deputy then later a full time paid deputy sheriff for
Kittitas County.
Lipp returned to Woodland in 2004 after being hired by the Woodland Police Department. Including his military police time, he has approximately 20 years of law enforcement service.
Lipp was chosen for promotion after competing with 5 other Woodland officers.
According to Chief Rob Stephenson, "Any of the officers who applied would have done a fine job as a sergeant. This was a very hard decision to make but, in the end, Lipp came out as the best overall choice for the position."
After initial training, Lipp will become the department’s second sergeant and will supervise a patrol team.
