I'M A CITIZEN OF FREEDOM

I'm A Citizen Of Freedom
And For These Freedoms I Will Fight
For Equality And Liberty
This Is My Unalienable Right

My Father Fought In World War II
And My Brothers Were For Uncle Sam
One Was Sent To Korea
The Other To Viet Nam

My Husband Was In The Air Force
And My Sons Lent A Helping Hand
And Now My Grandson's Fighting
Way Off In A Foreign Land

When I See Old Glory Waving
I Get A Lump Down In My Throat
The Same When They Play America
Or The Star Spangled Banner's Note

I Believe All People Should Be Free
To Work And Play And Pray
To Take Care Of Their Families
While Living Day To Day

No Human Should Know Hunger
And No One Know Despair
We All Should Have Our Dreams And Hopes
Not Live In Poverty And Fear

All People Should Be Equal
No Matter Race, Sex Or Creed
Not Only In Our Speeches
But Also In Thought And Deed

Iím Proud To Be A Citizen
Of The Great Red White And Blue
And The Three Words "We The People"

I Know Mean Me And You©

Woodland Veteran's Day services took place on a beautiful November 11, 2006 morning, under partly cloudy skies. The event started at 11:00 A.M. Mayor Doug Monge and several other dignitaries spoke about the debt of gratitude we owe to all our veterans. There was a fly over of jets but the low clouds prevented them from being seen. This is a very emotional event. The rifle salute was particularly moving as was a rendition on the bag pipes.Click here for more pictures of the 2006 observance.

The Woodland Veterans Day Ceremony was held at the Veterans Memorial in downtown Woodland at 11 a m on November 11, 2005. Many veterans and a crowd of grateful citizens attended to honor our veterans and future veterans. Fire Chief Tony Brentin led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
